DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) is a skills-based form of therapy that helps people manage intense emotions, improve relationships, and cope with stress in healthier ways. It combines acceptance—learning to understand and validate your experiences—with change—building practical skills to respond more effectively. DBT focuses on four key areas: mindfulness (staying present), distress tolerance (getting through difficult moments), emotion regulation (understanding and managing feelings), and interpersonal effectiveness (communicating needs and setting boundaries). It is especially helpful for individuals who feel overwhelmed by their emotions or struggle with impulsive behaviors. Over time, DBT helps people feel more balanced, in control, and able to navigate life’s challenges with greater confidence.
